Now that I've moved my expenses have changed. In fact they have gotten a lot more complicated with both a mortgage and a rent payment to worry about. To be honest I'm pretty depressed about how much this move has set me back. I do expect to get some of the money back, but it still feels frustrating right now. My goal of $10,000 by January 1, 2010 is looking as though it is going to be impossible to make and once again I've completely wiped out my slush fund.
I've been avoiding taking a hard look at my long-term planning, but this has to stop. Tomorrow I'm going to sit down and look at my updates for the month of May. I plan on using this as a step forward to sitting down, checking in with my goals, and revising as necessary. It is time to get back on track.

Sometimes these large events can easily distract us from our goals. Good luck getting everything back on track!
How are you going to handle mortgage and rent at the same time?Good luck with your plans!
I'm a little confused too--why do you have a mortgage and a rent? Are you renting out your other apartment?
Recently I felt the need to reorganize and it feels so nice! I know you want to try to meet your $10k mark, but don't be discouraged. You've already done so well, and you still have half a year left.
I've just completed a very expensive month..and it bothers me, too, that my financial goals have been stalled.
June will be a NO SPEND month for us, as I now have committed to spending several thousand dollars for a lake house. Sigh.
I'm sure you will be back on track soon!
Congrats on your move!
I feel you there. Paying the bills is my least favorite task. Perhaps having a better planning will do the trick, and cutting off the expenses. Set aside all those wants for your next plan and hopefully you'll notice the big difference. You know, one of my motivations of following a budget is savings. If you don't budget your spending well, there will be nothing left for you to save.
